How to check both property tax bills for one address

One from the City of Memphis, one from the Shelby County Trustee. Independent service, not a tax office.

What you need

Have the property address ready. The parcel number helps if you have it. The two offices keep separate records, so you will look in two places.

If a balance does not match your notice, read what a balance shows and what to confirm on your notice.

Step 1, the City of Memphis bill

Open the City of Memphis site and find its property tax look-up. Search by the address, parcel number or owner name.

Step 2, the Shelby County Trustee bill

Open the Shelby County Trustee site and find its tax look-up.

Step 3, compare the two

Put the two results side by side. Look at the parcel number, and the name and mailing address on file. If one office shows no bill for the parcel, check that office's site again or contact the office.

Once you have checked both, see how to pay both property tax bills, and what tools can help.

If you did not get a bill in the mail

A bill can be missing because only one office bills the parcel, the mailing address on file is old, or the mail did not arrive. Look up the parcel on both sites anyway. If the address on file is wrong, ask the office how to update it.

Reading what you see

Treat what you see online as a starting point. Each office's own notice or portal is the place to confirm a figure, and figures can change. ClearParcels is not the source for what to pay.

The shortcut

If you would rather see both bills in one place, enter an address and we put the City of Memphis and Shelby County Trustee bills into one clear report. A person on our team reviews every report, and the report shows the date it was checked.

Details

If another city or town also bills this parcel, we cannot check that bill yet. We will tell you, and you will not pay for this parcel: if you already bought this report, we refund the full fee.
