What a balance shows, and what to confirm on your notice
One from the City of Memphis, one from the Shelby County Trustee. Independent service, not a tax office.
The short answer
Treat any number you see online as a starting point, including a number in a ClearParcels report. The office's own notice or portal is the place to confirm a figure.
If you would rather have both bills in one place, see one report for both tax bills.
Why a balance can look different
A balance reflects what an office shows at one moment. Figures can change, and two offices can show different tax years for the same address. When two numbers differ, check the date on each.
Current year and earlier years
An address can have a bill for the current tax year and bills for earlier years. Look at the tax year on each line so you know which one you are reading. If an earlier year appears, read the office's own notice for it.
How to get the office's own figure
Open the office's own site and find its notice or look-up for the parcel. For Shelby County, that is the Trustee's site. For the City of Memphis, that is the City's site. Confirm the figure there before you act on it.

What a ClearParcels report does
A ClearParcels report shows what each office shows for the address, with the date it was checked. It does not calculate what you owe, and it is not the source for what to pay. A person on our team reviews every report.
